Here’s how we conduct MOT checks

MOT Class 4 Tests Faringdon

Our team of certified MOT experts are highly skilled and experienced in assessing roadworthiness of the following Class 4 vehicles:

  • Motorcaravans
  • Ambulances
  • 3-wheeled vehicles over 450 kg
  • Taxis
  • Cars with up to 8 passenger seats
  • 12-passenger seat private vehicles

We begin the assessment by inspecting a list of vehicle components. Some of them are as follows:

Tyres & Wheels

To pass the MOT check, your car’s tyres must meet certain guidelines: a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm, no internal or external bulges, no cuts or other damages, etc. Tyres are the only vehicle parts that directly connect the vehicle to the road surface, so they should always be in top condition to ensure safety.

We also have a good look at the wheels to make sure they are not damaged (deep cracks etc.) in a way that could jeopardise safety.

Exhaust System

The exhaust emission level of your vehicle determines its environmental friendliness. So, it must meet the legal standards to get through the MOT assessment. During this check, we inspect all exhaust components including the catalytic converter, tailpipe, exhaust manifold, muffler etc. to ensure their functionality. An emmission test will be carried out separately.

Suspension

A faulty suspension system can not only hamper your driving comfort but also lead to safety hazards. To ensure your vehicle’s roadworthiness, its suspension system must work optimally. Thus, we inspect the suspension components such as shock absorbers, springs, struts, etc. to determine their condition.

Brakes

This component plays a crucial role in maintaining your driving safety. Therefore, we check the brake components like the master cylinder, brake pads, discs, callipers, etc. while conducting MOT assessments.

These are only a few of the components checked during an MOT test.

You can find the full list on the DVLA website.

Depending on the performance of these components, we will issue one of the following MOT certificates:

VT20: It confirms that your car has successfully passed the MOT and is fit for usage on public roads. In case minor issues were found, the vehicle can still pass the test. An advisory note will be attached to the VT20. The issues should be rectified as soon as possible.

VT30: It means the vehicle failed its MOT. The reasons for the failure are classified as dangerous or major. The faults are stated on the certificate and must be rectified in due course and a partial re-test must be carried out afterwards. With a VT30 you are not allowed to drive or park on public roads.

There is no longer need to search for “MOT near me.”
